Kovalam
Kovalam is the most popular beach in Kerala and one of the finest beaches in India. Every day thousands of tourists visit this beach in tourism season. A high rocky promontory jutting into the sea created a beautiful bay of calm waters for sea bathing. There is a light house in the beach. The view from this 118 meter light house is amazing. One can see the life in the whole city and other nearby beaches from this light house top point. Sunbathing, Herbal body toning massage, swimming and cycling along the beach are other attractions.

Light House Timing: 3PM to 5PM
Ticket Charge: 10Rs
How to reach Kovalam: Buses ply to Kovalam at half hourly intervals throughout the day from East Fort bus stand. East Fort bus stand is very near to Trivandrum Main bus terminal and Railway station.

Chowara Beach
A pristine and serene fishing hamlet and unending stretch of white beaches. There is a hill top Lord Ayyappa temple which overlooks the beach. The beautiful fisherman’s village of Chowara is popular for its beach. This beach can have strong surf in the monsoon season and after storm. Coconut trees dot the sandy shores and the golden sands are an ideal place to relax and enjoy. Chowara beach is 8KM far from Kovalam.
How to reach Chowara: One can get direct buses to chowara beach also from the East fort bus stand.

Azhimala Beach
Azhimala is another beach close to Kovalam and Chowara. It is a calm and quiet beach. There is a temple of Lord Siva near the beach. The surroundings of the temple are lovely and enchanting.  Since the beach can be viewed from the hill top, the name came to be Azhimala.  Azhimala is a Malayalam word. ‘Azhi’ means sea and ‘mala’ is Hill. The Sun setting view from the hill top is amazing one.  This is the only beach in Kerala where sea is receding.
